In 2007, Team Rockstar began sponsoring EliteXC and King of the Cage. EliteXC is the live events division of ProElite, Inc. headed by legendary fight promoter, Gary Shaw. King of the Cage (or KOTC) is a MMA organization viewed as a minor circuit. KOTC features up and coming MMA stars (as well as veterans), which may eventually go on to either UFC or PRIDE. Team Rockstar sponsor many of KOTC MMA fighters and champions including Welterweight Champion Aaron Witherspoon and Mike “The Joker” Guymon. Rockstar is excited to be apart of the action.
While lining up these great events, Rockstar Energy Drink sponsored Matt Linland to fly to the ICE Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia to fight top-ranked heavyweight fighter on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko in the Clash of the Nations.
